Unlocking Potential: Business Competencies Class and MIXUE Case Study at NBS
Here at Newton Business School, we put our students in the shoes of business people by using the Harvard Case Method. I love teaching our NBS students in this way during Business Competencies classes as it helps to prepare them for becoming leaders of tomorrow.
Business Competencies Class
Business Competencies has been designed to focus on strengthening four components of student skills: language proficiency, numerical skills, comfort using technological tools and professional presence. Throughout this academic year, the NBS team have run many classes, forums and debates with students to give them the freedom to express and develop their skills and talents.
My particular focus and expertise is on developing students’ Business English skills which will be crucial for them when they enter university – I also enjoy coaching students who will be going to study at university in the UK and sharing my knowledge and experience with them.
MIXUE Case Study
In Year 12 Business Competencies class, it was a lively time for all as we spoke about soft drinks and ice cream! I had prepared a 1 pager summary for students to study in advance of the class, and in class I discussed the impressive business model of MIXUE with our Year 12s and tied this to the SWOT analytical framework. The energy around the classroom was fantastic to see! Thank you to NBS School Director Mr. Satyajit Salian for joining this first Business Competencies class, in a planned set of many from our team after the recent Songkran break.
